A Fork In the Road

Trigger Warning: Self-Harm, Sexual Assault

A fork in the road.
A knife to my skin.
Visions of monsters,
Keep creeping in.

A fork in the road.
A deep trauma found.
I'm being dragged,
My hands are bound.

A fork in the road.
A search for hope.
Hiding myself
Is how I must cope.

A fork in the road.
A longing for safety.
For into the darkness,
Is where they take me.

A fork in the road.
A lost childhood.
I kept on running,
For as long as I could.

A fork in the road.
A choice to be made.
I always chose left,
Where loneliness stayed.

A fork in the road.
A house of my fears.
Going right I must pass it,
I go left with my tears.

A fork in the road.
A dead end in the dark.
Years hiding alone,
Secretly growing my spark.

A fork in the road.
A familiar place,
I approach with new strength,
And I pick up my pace.

A fork in the road.
A full life in sight,
I'm strong enough now,
This time I turn right.
